N.E.W. Dragon Boat Festival

The N.E.W. Dragon Boat Festival is Northeast Wisconsin's most exciting multi-cultural festival! It is held at the Leach Ampitheater in OshKosh, WI and was hosted by the Northeast Wisconsin Chinese Association (NEWCA) and the Fox Valley Community Learning Center. This event is more than just races, it is an entire cultural and community event with multiple demonstrations and dances throughout the day, an entire market area, food trucks galore, and a very lively atmosphere!
Due to prior engagements, and changes to the event date, the Flying Ears were without our fearless leaders, Craig and Kris, for this event. This meant that not only did we not have our coaches, we also didn't have our steer and drummer! We are grateful to Robyn, from our friends "off the water" Motley Crew, for steering for us and keeping us safe and on course. Especially since this was her first time steering at a competition - and she did AWESOME. It was a different kind of day from the start - plagued with some technical issues, some communication issues, a collision for our team, and not so great weather - but it really gave us a chance to bond as a team while working to overcome adversity. It DEFINITELY gave us insight into how much Craig and Kris handle for us at these races!
